Update Types

WordPress core, plugins, themes, and translations - all manageable from one Dashboard.

WordPress Core Updates

  • Update all: MainWP > Updates > WordPress Updates > Update All Sites
  • Update single: Locate site row > Update Now
  • Auto-update: Settings > Update Settings > WP Core auto-updates > Install Updates, then per-site enable

Auto-Update Timing

MainWP Auto Update is independent from WordPress native auto-updates. Uses WP Cron and may take up to 24 hours after detecting an update. Use Uptime Robot for reliable cron execution.

Plugin Updates

Trust System

Mark plugins as trusted for auto-update: MainWP > Plugins > Auto Updates > filter > Show Plugins > select > Apply Trust

Un-ignore: MainWP > Plugins > Ignored Updates > Unignore

Theme Updates

Same patterns as plugins. Access via MainWP > Updates > Themes Updates.

Trust themes: MainWP > Themes > Auto Updates

Translation Updates

  • Update all: MainWP > Updates > Translation Updates > Update All
  • Auto-updates: Settings > Translation advanced automatic updates > Install Trusted Updates
  • Per-site ignore: Sites > Manage Sites > Settings > Ignore translation updates

Rollback Feature

Built-in since MainWP 5.1. Requires WordPress 6.3+ on child sites.

  • Active on all Dashboard pages where updates trigger
  • Works for individual and bulk updates
  • Orange icon with tooltip persists until successful update
  • For premium plugins not on wordpress.org, use Favorites Extension to store versions

Update History

Per plugin/theme: click History in the update row to see:

  • Actor (who triggered the update)
  • Source (MainWP or direct)
  • Timestamp
  • Version changes

Switch between Day History (date-grouped) and Plugin/Theme History views.
